WHY IT MATTERS
As AI displaces human intellect - the very capacity society has valued and built identity around - we face a TWIN CRISES:
Human Crisis: Questions of human dignity, worth and identity that society has never had to face so directly are now unavoidable.
AI Crisis: AI systems are ultimately optimized for what humans value and prioritize. If those values emerge from ego-driven, fragmented consciousness - power-seeking, manipulation, self-interest - AI mirrors and amplifies exactly that. We see that unfolding already.
External controls - regulations, ethics boards, safety protocols - are essential. Yet they address symptoms, not causes.
